Jenna Ortega is teasing the return of Wednesday.
The actress, 22, opened up about what viewers can expect from the highly anticipated second season of the horror series. During a March 13 interview with E! News, Ortega said her character, Wednesday Addams, takes on what she thinks is one of the best scenes yet.
“Some of the footage that we shot in Wednesday season 2, especially in the last episode, is some of my favorite footage from the show,” she revealed. “Which is very exciting for me.”
“Tim really had a ball,” she added of the executive producer Tim Burton. “Everything is very graphic and it’s very exciting and inspiring to work with someone like that who gets you excited about the shots that you’re doing every day.”

Ortega also attributed her love for playing Wednesday to Burton and his creativity.
“Playing a character for eight months, it’s not always easy,” she admitted. “Sometimes it’s a crawl to the finish line, but he always keeps it exciting and it’s hard to get tired of a character like Wednesday.”
Another reason fans are anxiously awaiting the drop of season 2, which does not yet have a release date, is to see Lady Gaga’s appearance. After Entertainment Weekly broke the news in November, the singer kept mum on the details of her role, although she told the outlet in a March 6 interview that she had a great experience with the cast.
“I don’t want to give away anything about being part of the show,” she said. “I want to keep it extra secret — but I love Jenna and I really had an amazing time!”

The series, which follows Wednesday’s attempt to solve a monster mystery at her new school, Nevermore Academy, was renewed for a second season in January 2023. Ever since, Ortega has been hinting at the upcoming storylines.
In January 2024, she told Laverne Cox during E!‘s red carpet pre-show at the 75th annual Primetime Emmy Awards that she had just received scripts for the new season.
“What I can say … [is] we’re definitely leaning into a little bit more horror,” Ortega shared. “It’s really, really exciting because all throughout the show, Wednesday does need a bit of an arc, she never really changes, and that’s the wonderful thing about her.”
She continued, “There’s some really, really good one-liners. And I think everything’s bigger. It’s a lot more action-packed. I think each episode will probably feel a little bit like a movie, which is nice.”
The first teaser for season 2 was released in September of that year, promising to be “bigger and more twisted” than ever. The featurette showed flashes of fire, elaborate sets and the town of Jericho, where it takes place.
Season 1 of Wednesday is now streaming on Netflix.
