Black Mirror is returning for yet another mind-bending season.

Created by Charlie Brooker, the Emmy award-winning anthology series has been likened to The Twilight Zone as it offers viewers similarly suspenseful and satirical tales, often relating to techno-paranoia.

Season 7 of Black Mirror will premiere in April 2025 — nearly two years after the release of season 6 — and will feature six episodes starring notable actors, including Issa Rae, Awkwafina, Rashida Jones, Emma Corrin and Paul Giamatti.

In August 2024, Brooker told Deadline that season 7 has one of the “bleakest” episodes to date, though he didn’t reveal which one he was referring to.

“We’re doing some things we’ve not done before,” he said. “People can expect quite a lot of emotion and, hopefully, a good mix of chills. We did a couple of horror stories in Season 6, which we label as Red Mirror. But this time around, the episodes are all, in a way, like OG Black Mirror.”

From the release date to episode details, here’s everything to know about Black Mirror season 7.

The upcoming season will include Brooker’s first-ever sequel episode — a follow-up to “USS Callister.” He told The Hollywood Reporter in May 2024 that it had been in the works for “several years.”

The episode first premiered during season 4 and featured Jesse Plemons as a video game creator named Robert Daly who creates sentient digital clones of his co-workers using their DNA, making them bend at his will. However, when a new employee named Nanette Cole (Cristin Milioti) gets into the game, and she encourages the other employees to revolt against him.

“USS Callister” has become a fan favorite over the years for its storytelling, star-studded cast and allusions to Star Trek. Following its release, the episode won four Primetime Emmy Awards, including outstanding television movie and outstanding writing for a limited series, movie, or dramatic special.

Per Netflix, the new episodes will follow the events of “USS Callister,” where Daly was left unconscious and trapped in his own game after his employees escaped.

“Robert Daly is dead,” the release teased. “But for the crew of the USS Callister, their problems are just beginning.”

Netflix released the first official trailer for Black Mirror season 7 on March 13.

The nearly three-minute teaser features clips from each of the six episodes — opening with Milioti’s character gasping for air as she wakes up on the USS Callister.

Viewers then see O’Dowd and Jones place a flat, circular device on their temples. “They call it mind-expanding,” Capaldi’s character explains. “It alters your neural structure. The mind is a computer.”

The futuristic device appears to send them into a trance-like state as their consciousness enters a virtual reality plane.

The trailer pivots to Rae’s character, who enters an AI-generated black-and-white world and meets Corrin’s character, who appears to be from a time long gone.

In the remaining seconds, the teaser highlights an action-packed season with other-worldly tech, violence and heightened paranoia. It ends with Magnussen’s character stating, “I’m losing my mind.”
