Danny DeVito was honored in a big way earlier this week — and Arnold Schwarzenegger wouldn’t have missed it for the world.
On Monday, March 10, Schwarzenegger presented his Twins costar with the Jason Robards Award for Excellence in Theatre at Roundabout Theatre Company in New York City.
“Last night, I had the opportunity to surprise my brother, @dannydevito, and be there to help present him with the Robards Award for Excellence in Theatre at @roundaboutnyc,” Schwarzenegger, 77, captioned a photo carousel of himself and DeVito, 80, onstage at the ceremony.
“It didn’t matter that I filmed all day and had to throw on a jacket and hustle on stage. I had to be there, because he deserves to be celebrated,” added the Terminator actor in his post on Tuesday, March 11, concluding, “Be there for your friends and family.”

The Jason Robards Award for Excellence in Theatre honors “a legendary theatre performer or philanthropist,” with past recipients including Helen Mirren, Audra McDonald and the late Christopher Plummer, per the company website.
Aside from his extensive film and TV work, DeVito has appeared in several stage productions both on and off Broadway beginning in 1969 including One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, The Merry Wives of Windsor, The Comedy of Errors and, most recently, I Need That in 2023.
Schwarzenegger and DeVito, meanwhile, famously costarred in 1988’s Twins, a buddy comedy that centered around the pair as genetically engineered fraternal twins separated at birth. The movie grossed $111 million at the domestic box office upon its release and was the fifth-highest-grossing film released that year, per Box Office Mojo.
Five years later, the duo reunited in the 1994 comedy Junior, which also starred Emma Thompson. The previous year, in 1993’s Schwarzenegger-led Last Action Hero, DeVito provided the voice of a cartoon cat detective.

DeVito first teased a potential reunion with Schwarzenegger in November 2023. Referencing the politician’s tenure leading California from 2003 to 2011, he joked to GQ, “We missed Twins 2, because [Arnold] became governor — which, he should have done Twins 2 instead of becoming governor.”
The following March, DeVito told CNN that he and Schwarzenegger were “working on something, a project that we’re going to do together, another movie.”
And while a follow-up to Twins had been in talks for years — including news of a sequel titled Triplets, co-written by Josh Gad and including Eddie Murphy in the cast — DeVito clarified that what he and Schwarzenegger might work on is instead about “just two friends, two guys.”
“We’re hoping that sooner [rather] than later, we’ll have a nice script to go to work,” the Matilda star added at the time.
